Birth Free Childbirth Education

My goal as a childbirth educator is for you and your baby to have the best, safest, and most rewarding birth experience possible. The best way to achieve this is through a natural birth which is defined as a un-medicated vaginal birth. For that reason I endorse and teach the following ideals in classes:

  • Natural childbirth
  • Active participation of the husband or significant other as coach
  • Excellent nutrition which is the foundation of a healthy pregnancy
  • Avoidance of drugs during pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding unless absolutely necessary.
  • Training: "Early-bird" classes followed by weekly classes starting in the 6th month, continuing until birth
  • Relaxation and NATURAL breathing
  • "Tuning-in" to your own body
  • Immediate and continuous contact with your new baby
  • Breastfeeding, beginning at birth
  • Consumerism and positive communications
  • Parents taking responsibility for the safety of the birth place, procedures, attendants, and emergency back-up
  • Mother and coach prepared for unexpected situations such as emergency childbirth, and cesarean section
Parents have the responsibility to make these choices themselves. They may need to seek personnel who have natural childbirth experience and who will support their choices. This may take considerable effort and sometimes requires seeking special personnel or traveling great distances to achieve the safest possible birth.

You can learn 2 different ways!
In the classroom
The full classroom series is 10 consecutive weeks, two and a half hours each. Consider it a date night with your baby, it’s cheaper than dinner and a movie and the preparation and bonding that can happen through those 10 weeks will be part of the very foundation of your relationship with your child. The classroom is the ideal way to prepare for your baby’s birth. Working directly with the instructor and interacting with the other students in the class provides a wonderful way to learn and grow. Each class provides a topic for the week, a nutrition segment, exercises to build strength and endurance for labor, and a relaxation exercise. The class will end with an assignment for the upcoming week and a birth video.

At home on DVD
For some couples, the the classroom setting simply isn’t possible; no classes in their area, inconvenient timing doesn’t work out, or maybe child care challenges. The classes on DVD are a great option for these couples. The couple will receive 12 DVDs each providing the lecture from class, the nutrition, exercise and relaxation segment. They each also have a testimonial from a mom or couple who had their baby through the classes and the impact it had on them. Each DVD has a PDF file that can be printed out on your computer that corresponds with the classes. A bonus to the DVD course is that you can use them to prep in future pregnancies at no added costs.
